Evaluation indicator:
Measures to share achievements such as developing into a research hub institute, cooperation with external organizations, holding academic conferences and seminars (including academic-research-industry collaboration research at the Core Research Institute and contribution plans of Korea University to local communities)
Strategic Goals by Research Task Phase

- The development plan for the research network management consists of 3 phases: (1) Establishing the Anam-Hongneung Valley basic science hub, (2) Leapfrogging as the Korean Peninsula network base, (3) Becoming a global (mid-latitude) basic science hub.
- Strengthening the basic science research network with universities and research institutes in the Anam-Hongneung Valley near Korea University and the OJEong Resilience Institute, and expand the network to address the environmental and climate crises in the Korean Peninsula and mid-latitudes.
- In the process of expanding the network, the Core Research Institute aims to sign an agreement, establish a basic research information hub platform, develop international environmental and climate risk assessment indices, and support the achievement of the highest level of research performance.
- The core value of the network development plan is GLOCAL (GLOcalization + LoCALization), and the CRI intends to conduct international-level research in cooperation with universities and research institutes for domestic basic science advancement.
- In the last year of the 3rd phase, the Anam-Hongneung Basic Science Valley achieves the "Best" grade and global basic science bases achieves the "Excellent" grade.
Phase 1: Establishment of a basic science regional hub (Anam-Hongneung Valley Basic Science Complex)
- Creation of an ecosystem research cluster in the Anam-Hongneung Valley Basic Science Complex, centered on Korea University
- Academia-research-industry linkage in northeast Seoul: Kyunghee University, University of Seoul, Kookmin University, Korea Institute of Science and Technology, National Institute of Forest Science, etc.
- Signing an agreement on ecosystem material cycles, environmental and climate crisis analysis, and ecosystem basic science with research institutes (expansion of established networks such as Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, Global Carbon Project, IIASA, etc.)
- The National Institute of Biological Resources and OJEong Resilience Institute signed an agreement.
- Promotion of non-face-to-face lectures in basic science and ecology and operation of KU Carbon Neutrality/SDGs Forum
- Industry-related activities and cooperation with local communities
Phase 2: Leaping forward as a network hub on the Korean Peninsula
- Based on the existing cooperation with Yanbian University, the Core Research Institute will develop into a regional hub research institute representing the Korean Peninsula.
- Conducting ecological research including North Korea in cooperation with the National Institute of Biological Resources, the Baekdudaegan National Arboretum, Hanns Seidel Foundation, etc.
- Establishment of a platform for basic research information (basic science of ecosystem material cycles, environmental/climate risk assessment models, field data, etc.)
- Joint participation of industry, academia and research in the Asia Resilience Conference (ARC) and enhanced exchange between leading groups in the US and Europe.
Phase 3: Becoming a global (mid-latitude) network hub
- Responding to the environmental and climate crises and strengthening the global network by developing independent environmental-social ecosystem assessment indices
- Expansion of activities to give back to society the results of basic science research
